Rep. Steve King is Dim

Remember when you were young and first came across the word "ass" in the dictionary? You snickered, hefted the Webster's, trundled over to your friend, pulled your finger from your nose, pointed and uttered something brilliant like, "Look. It sez ass." Or maybe the first time you heard the female variety of canine referred to as a bitch? "Heh. Didja hear dat? He sed bitch. Heh heh."

It's these memories of immaturity that come to mind when I read or hear of the patently ridiculous correlation between Sen. Barack Obama's middle name and Islamic terrorism. The latest bit of ignorance courtesy of Iowa congressman, Steve King:

An Iowa Republican congressman said Friday that terrorists would be "dancing in the streets" if Democratic candidate Barack Obama were to win the presidency.

Rep. Steve King based his prediction on Obama's pledge to pull troops out of Iraq, his Kenyan heritage and his middle name, Hussein.

"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida … would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror," King said in an interview with the Daily Reporter in Spencer.

King said his comments were not meant to demean Obama but to warn how an Obama presidency would look to the world.

"His middle name does matter," King said. "It matters because they read a meaning into that."

What utter nonsense. The idea that American's should fear voting for Barack Obama based on how al qaeda will react to his heritage and middle name is a victory for al qaeda.

"Hehe, it sez Hussein."

Get a grip.

Good to stumble upon some common sense and perspicacity in relation to this asinine notion. I may not vote for Obama, if I was American that is, but it has little to do with his middle name…

Thanks, Otto. Like you, Obama isn't my choice candidate. We agree. The opposition should take on his policy and experience, not something so ridiculous as his middle name.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Jay.

Steve King is a huge embarrassment to those of us who live in his district. You may wish to see a website about some of his more memorable quotes, ideas & issues at www.kingwatch.org
