The F-22 Raptor.
Criticism of this thing's massive expense in light of it's quite obvious ineffectiveness in being a player in America's shift from Cold War to Small War aside (I won't go into the symbolic/hegemonic effect of an almighty military...), you have to admit this fighter is simply filthy.

But if we're ever attacked by jihadists in really slow helicopters, we'll dominate !
I had a bit of a debate with Jeff on his post. I'm about to put up a post which develops some of the ideas I debated with Jeff - namely, that the F-22 provides an illusion of security, rather than the real thing.
Thanks for the nod Soob. I like your blog by the way.
The Strategist makes some very excellent points, and I respect his opinion. But the problem with views like Peter's is they seem locked into a one view world. The "small wars" paradigm is a reasonalbe view. But the only real superpower in the world (the U.S.) doesn't stay that way, or stay prepared for the unknown future, by not continuing to develop advanced weapons technology across the warefare spectrum.
Jeff
Thanks for posting the vid. I hadn't seen the f-22 in action before. Amazing fighter.
