Day of Infamy

The USS Shaw: An vivid illustration of American resilience as the Shaw would survive three bombs and the above captured explosion of her forward magazine. The USS Shaw returned to Pearl Harbor eight months later and served her country for four more years before being scrapped in 1946. Furthermore of the eight ships sunk or capsized only three were destroyed beyond repair.

Of course the same cannot be said for the 2043 Americans who awoke to what must have began as just another beautiful morning in Hawaii only to perish a few hours later. December 8th brought both President Roosevelt's timeless "Day of Infamy" speech and a declaration of war as America officially entered the Pacific theater of WWII.
