Fred Thompson on Michael Moore

Following an article Fred Thompson wrote in the National Review, in which he criticizes Moore for his recent filming adventure in Cuba, Moore responded by challenging Thompson (as well as noting Thompson's apparent taste for Cuban cigars) to a debate on health care. Thompson's response follows:

It's painfully ironic that ole Mike chose to celebrate such a country to highlight the failings of the US healthcare system. If Mike were a Cuban filmmaker and chose to produce a film that excoriated Castro in the same fashion that Fahrenheit 911 did Bush one imagines Mike's creative talents would be reduced to basket weaving and electro-shock therapy in some Havana mental institution. Or worse

Mike should also have a look at Alvaro Vargas Llosa's piece, titled "The Return of the Idiot," in this months issue of FP. Mike, like Chomsky, needs help in addressing his guilt for being a successful American. Soob sends his support out to Mike in this time of great inner struggle.

Excellent. I love Thompson's line about not having time in his diary. Very deadpan.
